In certain power architectures, an external MCU or controller monitors the downstream load. If the controller needs to select between multiple supplies, the controller can manually switch between inputs through a single GPIO. In this configuration, an external signal will switch between two input supplies, a 5-V supply (IN1) and a 3.3-V supply (IN2). #GUID-85B58D82-7F74-4743-9D7E-CE0D67196A5C/T5465954-10 summarizes the design parameters for this example.
